If you’ve been following this blog, you know that its goal is not taking better snapshots and mimicking the work of others. It’s about making original creative images in your own personal style. You will also know that I believe there are no shortcuts to mastering anything – just lots of study, hard work, practice and patience. Obviously these ideas are not unique to me and this course. For example, here are some similar thoughts expressed not by a visual artist but a writer.
“Talent is a long patience, and originality an effort of will and intense observation.”
— Gustave Flaubert
“Anything becomes interesting if you look at it long enough.”
“One arrives at style only with atrocious effort, with fanatical and devoted stubbornness.”
“Style is as much under the words as in the words. It is as much the soul as it is the flesh of a work.”
“One can be the master of what one does, but never of what one feels.”
