Maine – Day #7 (a circular polarizer special)

Summary Day 7: Reflections are fun. Reflections of autumn are special. Day #7 was a special fun day – but “Mainely” because of a circular polarizer. This post shows why a CP is essential and – NO! – its reflection results cannot be mimicked in PS.

Here’s a with & without comparison that tells the whole story about CPs and reflections – (also demonstrates why a picture is worth 1000-words). Reflections (or not) in a shallow stream.

Here are my posts, over the years, waxing poetic on circular polarizers. This is the one absolutely-must-have camera filter!

  1. Yo Ed, I’ve been enjoying your fall adventures. HHPC is off to RI on Thurs to shoot 4 days of fall colors etc. This is a timely reminder for me/us as I generally forget about the polarizer until after the fact. There was one judge that suggested to “never” take it off. Maybe good advice.
